About the Piece:
Guarding the world from the forces of darkness is an arduous task. The Keeps of Light were established across the realm to assist in keeping a watchful eye over the land. Each tower belongs to one mage, a wizard that has dedicated his life to the preservation of the land, animals, and all that is good. For their life-long sacrifice, they are given many gifts to assist in their daily tasks, including the ability to sense evil. When they take this vow, their eyes shimmer to an icy blue, an unmistakeable mark to warn all those that would do harm to the world, that nothing can escape their watchful eyes.
While I had completed another piece in pastel, Penultimate Fantasy, I hadn’t really gotten into the complications of pastels and their nuances. I consider this to be my first true pastel work, and I have to give credit to A.B. Word and Barrie Bryant for allowing me to apprentice with them and learn how to work with this awesome medium.
